A continuing medical education on the theme of Genetics in clinical practice was organized by department of anatomy on 27th April 2018 at Kadamba hall.
The CME was accredited with Karnataka Medical Council & carried 2 credit hours.
Dr. Sridevi Hegde senior consultant & HOD, Department of Genetics from Manipal Hospital Presented an Excellent talk on genomics & its applications in clinical diagnosis & management.
Dr. Priya Kadam NIPT program director at Medgenome laboratory Pvt Ltd. Gave excellent talk on progress in prenatal diagnosis. She highlighted about the important facts of prenatal diagnosis the different screening & diagnostic tests that aid in the diagnosis. The major emphasis was on non invasive prenatal testing based on cell free DNA its scope & limitation.
Dr. Preetha Tilak HOD Division of Human genetics St. John’s Medical College Bengaluru gave elaborative talk on genetic counseling. She also discussed different case scenarios which heighted the sensitivity of the counseling. She said counseling should be done & aims to explain the facts as clearly as possible.
The event was attended by more than 70 doctors from all emanates

A rally was held on 31st January 2018 in promoting “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” Campaign by the Department of Community Medicine. All the Teaching, non teaching staff from various departments participated along with students of Rajarajeswari medical college and Hospital.

Pulmonary Medicine is an upcoming branch of internal medicine which deals with disease of Respiratory System concerned with oxygen delivery to tissue and removal of Co2 from the body.
As it is an expanding branch of medicine with sub specialities like interventional Pulmonology, sleep medicine and critical come medicine along with Tuberculosis and Drug Resistance.
In order to keep a fresh of the advances is Pulmonary Medicine we, Department of Pulmonary Medicine, RRMCH conducted one day CME, on
“Pulmonary updates 2018” on 02/02/2018 to cover the recent advances in disease like “Drug Resistant” – TB- TOG , Asthma COPD and ILD were discussed in the morning session.
In the afternoon session ultrasound in pulmonary diseases, central airway obstruction management and Medical Thoracoscopy in pleural effusion are discussed.
Around 150 delegates had attended the CME and had good scientific discussion and interactions with delegates and speakers.
As every year, take a walk down the corridors of RRMCH for the Alumni Meet, MILANA-2017 on 22nd April 2017. The meet started traditionally with the lighting of lamp and was followed by the recital song Vinayaka vandana. The occasion was graced by more than 100 Alumni and their family members ranging across various batches from various parts of the country and outside the country as well. The Inaugural session was also attended by Dean, HODs, and faculty and staff members. The Dean called for greater Alumni Participation. Alumni members had a unique opportunity to meet their teachers, peers and juniors. In response, alumni shared their experience as well as interesting moments of campus life with audience Alumni reunion came to an end with a short entertainment programme.
