Overview

At RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH), we believe in training doctors who are not only clinically skilled but also compassionate and ethical. To strengthen this vision, RRMCH has established a state-of-the-art Clinical Skills and Medical Simulation Centre, in the CCL Building , RRMCH. Equipped in collaboration with Laerdal, a world leader in medical simulation, the centre features many manikins to train undergraduate students, postgraduates, and faculty. Learners can practise a wide spectrum of skills — from basic procedures like intramuscular injections to advanced, team-based management of critically ill patients. Our most advanced simulator — SimMan 3G— bring real-life scenarios into the classroom. These high-fidelity simulators recreate emergencies encountered in the casualty, operating theatre, and intensive care units, helping students develop confidence, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills in a safe environment. The Simulation Centre reflects RRMCH’s commitment to innovation in medical education, preparing future doctors for the challenges of modern healthcare. “Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre – Where Learning Meets Lifelike Experience.”

Mission:

To provide competency-based, simulation-driven training that ensures safe, ethical, and effective clinical practice and to nurture communication, professionalism, and teamwork while promoting patient safety and quality care.

Objectives:

Skill Acquisition:

• Provide a safe, structured, and supervised environment for students to learn and practice essential clinical, procedural, and communication skills.
• Develop psychomotor skills (e.g., injections, catheterization, CPR, suturing) using models, simulators, and mannequins before performing on patients.

Competency Development:

• Elicit accurate history.
• Perform complete and focused clinical examination.
• Demonstrate basic procedural skills.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Patient Safety & Ethical Practice:

• Emphasize safe practice, infection control, and ethical handling of clinical situations in a simulated setting.
• Reduce risk to patients by ensuring adequate pre-clinical exposure to procedures.

Self-Directed Learning:

• Encourage deliberate practice and self-assessment through checklists, OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination), and feedback.

Teamwork & Professionalism:

• Foster interprofessional collaboration, respect, empathy, and professionalism through role-play and simulation scenarios.
