World Anesthesia day was celebrated by the Department of Anesthesia and Critical care on 17th October 2016 at Kadamba Auditorium from 1.30 pm onwards.
A quiz on Anesthesia was conducted in the department on 15th Oct 2016 amongst the postgraduates of Anesthesia to mark World Anesthesia day.
The programme on 17th started with a welcome speech by Dr. Sahajananda, Prof and HOD followed by a brief talk on intriguing history of World Anesthesia Day by Dr. Rangalakshmi, Professor. This was followed by an entertaining Medley Antakshari in which there was active participation by several departments. Eight teams vied for two prizes.
The highlight of the programme was a short skit presented by the postgraduates of Department of Anesthesia entitled “Moans” directed by Dr. Prajwal. This had the audience in splits of laughter throughout; it gave a hilarious perception of a day in the operating room and ICU.
The guest of honour was Dr. Kolli Challam, Prof and HOD, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Medical Sciences. He gave an extremely lucid and informative talk on cardiac transplantation accompanied by very interesting videos.
The programme concluded with cake cutting and prize distribution for the quiz and antakshari winners.
