A continuing medical education on the theme of Genetics in clinical practice was organized by department of anatomy on 27th April 2018 at Kadamba hall.
The CME was accredited with Karnataka Medical Council & carried 2 credit hours.
Dr. Sridevi Hegde senior consultant & HOD, Department of Genetics from Manipal Hospital Presented an Excellent talk on genomics & its applications in clinical diagnosis & management.
Dr. Priya Kadam NIPT program director at Medgenome laboratory Pvt Ltd. Gave excellent talk on progress in prenatal diagnosis. She highlighted about the important facts of prenatal diagnosis the different screening & diagnostic tests that aid in the diagnosis. The major emphasis was on non invasive prenatal testing based on cell free DNA its scope & limitation.
Dr. Preetha Tilak HOD Division of Human genetics St. John’s Medical College Bengaluru gave elaborative talk on genetic counseling. She also discussed different case scenarios which heighted the sensitivity of the counseling. She said counseling should be done & aims to explain the facts as clearly as possible.
