On 29th January, our Rajrajeswari Medical College was abuzz with excitement for the much-anticipated ‘Pareeksha Pe Charcha’ program scheduled by Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi. The event, held between 11 am to 2 pm, witnessed a large turnout of our enthusiastic students and dedicated faculty members.

This theme encapsulates the dual objectives of the day: to eradicate the stigma associated with leprosy and to promote the dignity of people affected by the disease.

Indian Coast Guard Day will be celebrated on February 1, 2023 to mark the 47th raising day of India’s maritime Armed Force, the Indian Coast Guard. ICG was established by the Coast Guard Act, 1978 on February 1, 1977.

A faculty development workshop was conducted on 2nd Feb 2024 by MEU and Curriculum Committe. The program aimed at orienting and sensitizing the faculty of phase III and phase IV for implementation and assessment of CBME. The program started at 9:30am with welcome address by Mr Mukesh Kumar (Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry). The participants were thought to get familiar with the NMC website and how to search the documents relevant to CBME by Dr. Leena Ravindra (Professor, Department of Dermatology and MEU Chairperson) and Dr. Priyanka (Professor, Department of Physiology). This was followed by a session on framing SLO, lesson plan and alignment – integration by Dr. Shashikala (Professor Department of Pathology). Dr. Nalini (Professor, Department of Pathology) oriented the participants on AETCOM and essential features of record keeping in teaching diary. The session proceeded with discussion on newer teaching methods by Dr. Sowmya(Associate Professor, ENT).
A CME was conducted by Emergency Medicine, RRMCH on Toxicology with one day structured workshop with hands on training to enhance knowledge & skills for the management of poisoning patient. This CME was accredited by Karnataka Medical Council with 02 hours (vide letter no.KMC/CME/0535/2023 dated: 21/12/2023).
In total 200 delegates from various medical institutes of Karnataka & nearby states participated & got benefited. Faculties from various medical colleges of Karnataka participated as the resource persons. The inauguration was done with lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana in presence of Dean. Dr. Satyamurthy , Medical Superintendent Dr. Praveen Kumar , Vice Principal Dr. Bhandari and NABH coordinator Dr .Sahajanad. Welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Ambareesh M. HOD, Emergency Medicine followed by an address by the Dean & Medical Superintendent.

A workshop on VPD and AEFI- Adverse Events Following Immunization – Reporting was organized by Department of Community Medicine and Department of Pediatrics on 22nd May 2024, from 11 am to 4 pm at Smart class room in RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital, in coordination with World Health Organization, National Health Mission, Immunization Technical Support Unit, Govt of Karnataka.
The program began with a welcome address by Dr Shasikala Manjunatha, Professor and HOD Dept of Community Medicine in presence of Dr. Sathyamurthy, Dean, RRMCH, Dr Praveen Kumar, Medical Superintendent, RRMCH, Dr Basavaraj Bhandare, Vice Principal, RRMCH, Dr Adarsh E, Professor and HOD, Dept of Paediatrics. Dr. Ashish gave a brief introduction of the Resource persons Dr Nagaraj NT – WHO – Surveillance Monitoring Officer, Karnataka, , State Coordinator for AEFI Reporting – Medical Colleges
The workshop was held in two sessions. Dr Nagaraj NT spoke on Immunization programme in India: NIS-UIP, Status update on coverage, zero dose and monitoring, MR Surveillance, AFP Surveillance, DPT Surveillance. Dr Manasa AR spoke on AEFI Surveillance System: monitoring and reporting, Morning and evening session was attended by staff and PGs from departments of Community Medicine, General Medicine, Emergency Medicine, OBG, Pharmacology, Ophthalmology, ENT and Dermatology. The Workshop was co-ordinated by Dr Manasa and Dr Chandana for AEFI reporting at RRMCH.
The sessions concluded successfully by Dr Chandana and Dr Shashikala Manjunatha and Dr Adarsh E handed over the mementos to the external speakers. Beverages and Lunch were served (Sponsored by World Health Organization.).
Dr. A.C. Shanmugam, Founder Chancellor, RRGI thanked the entire team of doctors Dr M.S. Prakash and his team of nephrologists, Dr. N. Srinath and his team of Urologists, Dr Rangalakshmi, Dr Karthik and team of Anesthesiologists, who were involved in the successful kidney transplantation conducted at RRMCH on 02/02/2024, for their wonderful achievement and Congratulated all of them amid feeling proud to have such a hardworking and talented team.
The Dept. of Peadiatrics in association with Quality Cell conducted NRP training program for Faculty, Post graduates and Staff nurses. A total of 94 members attended the programme.

An overview of the steps, equipment used for early patient resuscitation and use of AED as per recent AHA guidelines was discussed by Dr. Sahana. G ,Prof of Pediatrics , NRP Instructor. She also explained about the latest AHA Guidelines on NRP followed by Mega code. Delegates were divided into 4 batches and Hands on training, using manikins according to AHA guidelines were done. Delegates were also given pre and post training questionnaire. The training fulfilled the objective of the workshop.
