RRMCH Doctors successfully operate a newborn for Choanal Atresia

Doctors at the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) in Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital have successfully operated a female newborn with “Bilateral Choanal Atresia”, which is a congenital disorder referring to the complete blockage of the back of the nasal passage.
ENT Surgeon, Dr. Rajendran Dinesh Kumar, repaired the blockage by Nasal Septal Cross-Over Flap Technique by Endoscopic Surgical Repair, which is completely scar less, stent less surgery.
Newborn withstood the procedure well and was under Neonatal ICU care, subsequently breastfed 5 days after the surgery without any respiratory distress. Endoscopic examinations 2 weeks after surgery showed the choana to be free of blockage. Regular clinical and nasal endoscopic examination has been planned during follow up visits to the hospital for child’s routine care and vaccination sessions.

International Nurses Day Celebration

Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital observed the “International Nurses Day” on 13th May 2022 at Kadamba Hall (College Auditorium). The celebration was graced by Mr. Seetharaman – CEO, Dr. Sathyamurthy B – Dean, Dr. Naveen S – Principal, Dr. Praveen Kumar – Medical Superintendent, Dr. Praveen G U – Principal, Chamundeshwari Hospital, Dr. Roshan – Medical Superintendent, Chamundeshwari Hospital, Dr. Adharsh – HOD, Pediatrics, Dr. Sahajanand – Head of the Research Wing and NABH Co-ordinator, Dr. Vivek G – Deputy. Medical Superintendent, Mrs. Shanthi – Nursing Superintendent. The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by all the dignitaries, and then proceeded with a welcome speech. The speech included ‘the thanks’ to the nurses and ‘the recognition of their noble contribution’ also. Senior Nurses were felicitated for their long services. There were Cultural performance by all the staff and program came to an ended with a vote of thanks and a official lunch to all the participants.

Mortality Audit – 6.5.22

The Mortality meet was conducted at RRMCH on 6th May, 2022 . This was a regular internal audit which has been conducted by the RRMCH team, which include Mortality Audit for the better assessment of the various departments of the hospital and to improve the treatment for the patients.

Voluntary Blood Donation Camp

On the occasion of founders’ day, RRMCH – Blood Centre had organized voluntary blood donation camp on 28th September in RRMCH campus .

They had invited blood center teams from Victoria Hospital and C V Raman General Hospital for the blood donation camp . Total 87 units were collected . Where the individual contributions were as mentioned below: – RRMCH Blood Centre collected -35 Units – Victoria Hospital blood Centre -31 Units – C V Raman General hospital – 21 Units

Black Fungus Surgery – RRMCH

“Kudos to the Doctors of Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital” -It is in fact proud to share with you all that Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital Doctors are successful in operating and treating a Black fungus infected patient by curing and discharging as well.

A 58-year-old lady with severe Sino Nasal Mucormycosis infection was admitted to the hospital on June 3rd, 2021. Our Doctors team Dr. Rajendra Dinesh Kumar (ENT-HNS), Dr. Mamatha N S ( RRDCH, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery), from surgical team Dr. Arjun, Dr Manoj, Dr Keerthi, Dr. Srikar, Dr. Sanjeev, from Anesthesia team Dr.Balakrishna N, Dr. Swathi, Dr. Priyanka D and from Pulmonologist team Dr. Vivek have contributed their great effort in making this operation successful. The patient was cured completely and discharged on June 18th, 2021.
