“A high level delegation comprising of 5 members from the Cultural Division, Embassy of Sultanate of Oman, and New Delhi visited the campus of RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital, Bangalore on Tuesday, 18th of December, 2013. The delegation included eminent people such as Mr. Hamoud Al – Karousi – DG of Education and Training, MOH, Mr.Abdulah AlRabia – Dean Of Health Institute, MOH, Mr. Ahmed AlAzri – Director of External Scholarships, Mr. Salim Abdullah Al-Bas – Cultural Attache, Ms. Susan – Coordinator. After visiting the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, the delegates have arrived at the campus at 1.40 PM.They were welcomed warmly with a Royal Salute. The chairman of RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital welcomed the delegation.A presentation about the institution was given. It also focused on what RRMCH can offer in collaboration with the Sultanate of Oman. The dignitaries and the management had elaborate discussions about the possible tie ups. The guests were then taken around the campus and they were taken to Central Research Lab, Forensic Medicine, and Library.
Then they took a tour of the hospital facilities such as the Radiology Department, Cardiology Department, ICU complex, and few other departments. Needless to say, the delegates were exceedingly impressed with the infrastructure and the facilities offered at the hospital. They also interacted with a few students as well as the staff during their visit.
The delegates returned for further discussions. The meeting was concluded with the felicitation by the Chairman.

Many cases mishandled in the private nursing homes are referred to RajaRajeswari Medical College, which are managed well with our state of the art Intensive care unit, operating rooms and the diligent work of all our doctors. The availability of our Intensivists, Anesthesiologists, Gynaecologists, Blood Bank services and Laboratory services round the clock has come as a blessing to the patients who reach our hospital in critical conditions.
Recently, a 36 year old patient, and mother of two young daughters named Mrs. Farida who was operated in a private nursing home in Chandra Layout for caesarean section reached our intensive care unit in a very critical condition as she had developed severe bleeding after the caesarean and a hysterectomy. When the patient had no pulse or blood pressure she was referred to our institute. Patient was in shock and DIC and our team headed by Dr.Rangalakshmi, Professor and Head of Critical Care and Dr. Madhumala, Duty Anesthesiologist, along with postgraduates in Anaesthesiology resuscitated the patient with 12 units whole blood, 4 units RBCs, 17 units FFPs, 10 units platelet concentrates and 3 unit cryoprecipitates, given preoperatively, which were made available by our state of the art, 24 Hrs Blood Bank.
The surgical team headed by Dr. Sailakshmi and Dr. Suhasini, Professors in OBG and Dr.Vishma, Duty Obstetrician and Gynaecologist , along with Dr. Shivanand, Cardiovascular Surgeon took the immediate and bold decision to reopen the patient due to her deteriorating general condition.
Intraoperatively it was found that due to the improper application of suture which was applied during hysterectomy in the private nursing home patient was in such a grave condition. Around 3 litres of blood was found in the abdomen.
Immediately the corrective surgery was done and the damage further controlled. Patient was stable after the surgery but developed acute renal failure due to prolonged blood loss and low BP. After daily dialysis for 5 days patient gradually regained her kidney function.
Today, she is a happy mother with her newborn, thanks to all the doctors, nurses, blood bank officers and laboratory & dialysis services.

As a crowning glory for RRMCH, Dr.Rangalakshmi S., Professor, Department of Anaesthesia, RRMCH is elected as the President of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, in the annual general body meeting of ISA Karnataka state branch. Elections were held for the most important posts of new office bearers for the year 2014 on 14th September 2013.

RGUHS, Bangalore Zone conducted a Shuttle Badminton Championship recently to find the sport star among the medical students. RRMCH is proud to announce that its 1st year P.G. student of Radio Diagnosis Department, Dr. Harshitha, has become the meritorious champion of the tournament.
RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital celebrated Doctor’s day with sizzling enthusiasm and unlimited energy, on 1st July, 2013 . It was a pleasant coincidence that Dr. B.C. Roy’s birthday comes on the same day. Dr. Shanmuganandan, President, IMA, Bangalore chapter graced the occasion as chief guest. Dr. Ramachandrappa, Professor- Anatomy department introduced the chief guest to the audience. Welcoming the dignitaries, the Medical Director Dr. Ramachandra, stressed the need for being service minded medical professionals. The chairman, RRGI Sri. A.C. Shanmugam presided over the function and wished all the doctors. Later, Dr. Shanmuganandan, took over and gave a thoroughly captivating presentation on the life of Dr. B.C. Roy. He also emphasized that the doctors has to be more service minded. Dr.Ramachandra concluded the well attended program proposing vote of Thanks.

RRMCH dedicates 5 dialysis units to the society
RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital, as a part of its philanthropic work, dedicates 5 Dialysis units to the society. The event is scheduled on 21st June, at 12 Noon at Dialysis centre, RRMCH. The President of the Rotary Club, Mr. Gurjar will be inaugurating the program in the presence of Mr. A.C. Shanmugam, chairman of RRGI. The objective of this program is to offer dialysis to the needy patients at an ultra low cost of Rs. 700 only at RRMCH.

Bangalore, August 7, 2012: RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital recently hosted the inauguration of the R.R Thukral Southern chapter of the International Medical Sciences Academy in the city. The two day conference happened on 3rd and 4th August 2012 received a footfall of innumerable eminent doctors and medical advisers across the country.
The platform has been created to discuss and resolve varied health related issues, which is witnessing a vertical rise amongst people where in a paradigm shift in the health care solutions also needed to be addressed.
Several renowned medical institutions like National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Manipal hospital, Narayana Hrudayalaya and many more participated at the conference to share their experiences in the medical field. Among the most eminent speakers were, Dr. Somashekar, specialist in Oncosurgery of MANIPAL HOSPITAL, Dr. Prathima Murthy, Professor of Psychiatry at NIMHANS, Dr. MuraliManohar specialist in Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery of Narayana Hrudayalaya delivered outstanding lectures based on their experiences in their respective specializations. They also shared their practical experiences in the profession and interacted with the audiences addressing their queries.
On the occasion, Vijay Anand, Executive Director, RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital said, “This conference has given our institution a whole new dimension to explore wider diversities in medical sciences. It has given our medical students a national exposure which will help them in progressing further as medical practitioners.”
The chief guest of the conference, Dr. M. Ramanathan, Vice-chancellor of Annamalai University said, “The aspiring medical students who have been a part of this platform are privileged that they have been given such an exposure at such a young stage of their professional lives. I am also delighted to see the immense growth of the institution and I believe this is the right step in the right direction to produce some of the most efficient doctors in the county.”
The conference, an initiative taken in the state by RRMCH, has been an enriching and enlightening experience for the audience and the institution was appreciated and applauded for the same.
