World Handwashing Day

Handwashing Day 2016

The Global Handwashing day was founded by the Global Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing with soap. This day is celebrated since 2008 globally. Hands are factories for the production of so many infections. Handwashing saves lives. Some people wash their hands with water, very few wash with soap and some don’t wash their hands at all.

Hand washing can prevent so many infections like diarrhea, pneumonia, hospital acquired infections, etc. It has been quoted that the handwashing with soap can prevent 1 in 3 diarrheal diseases and 1 in 6 respiratory tract infections.

This year’s theme for global handwashing day is “MAKE HANDWASHING A HABIT”

On this occasion, the department of Microbiology, Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital, Kambipura, Mysore road, Bangalore-74 conducted a public awareness program for Handwashing.
