The World Kidney Day Steering Committee has declared 2021 the year of “Living Well with Kidney Disease”. This has been done in order to both increase education and awareness about effective symptom management and patient empowerment, with the ultimate goal of encouraging life participation.
The Department of Pediatrics, RRMCH had organised a “World Obesity day” on 04/03/2021 for children and their care takers at Paediatric OPD, RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital. The program commenced from 11:00 am. More than 70 people participated in the program. Among them were Pediatricians, Preventive and Social Medicine Staff, Post Graduates and also Under Graduates students.
Nearly 20 children with their care takers attended and got benefited from this Awareness Program. Dr.Adarsh E., HOD, Pediatric Department, RRMCH gave a welcome speech to the gathering.
The Program continued by a talk on “Etiology and complications of Pediatric obesity” by Dr. Sowjanya GT, Pediatric endocrinologist. Ms.Usha P., Dietician, gave a wonderful talk on “Healthy dietary habits and lifestyle” and also followed by talk on “Psychological aspects of obese children” by Ms. Latha Kumari C, Child psychologist. Dr Adarsh E. gave a descriptive talk on “Junk food”. The program concluded with valediction. Care takers and children were given immense knowledge regarding the importance of this year’s theme, “Obesity- act today”. Such awareness programs have helped in reinforcement for children and to modify the attitude towards the lifestyle to the care taker’s also.

RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital undertook a Fire Fighting Mock Drill on 24th November 2018, Saturday, to train the staff, students and the faculties on how to combat the fire in case of any fire mishaps. The entire training session was handled by the Fire Consultants MINIMAK FIRE SERVICES. The security personnel, Housekeeping, nurses, drivers, UG and PG students, teaching and non- teaching staff participated in the entire session enthusiastically. The session started off with a PPT presentation with a diagrammatic representation. The causes, preventive precautionary measures, damage control measures to be taken were all explained in English, Hindi, Kannada which made it easier for everyone to understand and the audiences were encouraged to ask doubts and get it clarified.
The entire group was then taken out and practical demonstration was given to most of the personnel present to understand the operations of the fire extinguisher. In total, everyone agreed that it was certainly a learning experience for all.
