GENERAL HEALTH CAMP REPORT
A free general health camp for the residents of Akki Pikki colony was conducted on 16thMarch 2015. It was organized by the Department of Community Medicine and was attended by the Faculty and Postgraduates of departments of Community Medicine, General Medicine, Paediatrics, OBG, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dermatology and Public Health Dentistry.
The event was conducted under the patronship of Shri A.C. Shanmugham and management, RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH) in collaboration with Lalitha Subbarao Nanjundaiah Memorial Trust.
The camp was conducted at a Government Primary School, Akki Pikki colony near wonderla, the camp began at 10 am and registration of all the people who came to avail the services was done.
After the preliminary screening of the people, the medical issues were identified and they were sent to the respective specialist for further evaluation. A total of 180 people attended the camp; the common morbidities observed were gastritis, generalized myalgia, dental problems and skin problems (mainly scabies). Among school children, common morbidities were rhinitis and cough. Among adolescent girls and reproductive age group, dysmenorrhoea was common. Among the elderly, vision problems (cataract) and joint pains were observed.
Alcohol consumption and tobacco chewing was found common among both gender.
Free medicines were given to the people based on the problems identified. Patients who required tertiary care management were referred to RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital. The camp ended at 2 pm and was followed by lunch.

A workshop was conducted for all faculties, PG’s and Operation Theater Staff on 21.02.2015 by the department of General Surgery in the use of Energy devices in surgery and role of Staplers on surgery with the assistance of Ethicon Endo Surgery Division of M/s Johnson and Johnson Ltd. The workshop was a success .
Worldwide, cervical cancer is both the fourth most common cause of cancer and the fourth most common cause of death from cancer in women. In 2012, it was estimated that there were 528,000 cases of cervical cancer, and 266,000 deaths. This is about 8% of the total cases and total deaths from cancer. Approximately 70% of cervical cancers occur in developing countries. In low income countries it is the most common cause of cancer death. In developed countries, the widespread use of cervical screening programs has dramatically reduced rates of cervical cancer.
Pediatric Surgery Department of RajaRajeswari Medical College and Hospital, Bangalore is organising Pediatric Awareness week from 10th to 15th November at the Hospital Auditorium. On 14th , a CME has been organised and Dr. S. Ramesh, Prof. And HOD of Pediatric Surgery, Indira Gandhi University of Child Helath, Banaglore, and Anthony Charles Robert, Senior Consulting Pediatric Surgeon, Columbia Asia Hospital, Bangalore have agreed to grace the function.

The ophthalmology department of RRMCH had conducted a free camp for school children and old age home inmates on 21
st September 2014. This was conducted as a part of birthday celebrations of our honored chairman.
IHeart scan workshop along with simulator sessions were conducted on
15th and 16th Sep 2014. This workshop provides for a dignostic level of knoweledge with case studies for cardiac pathologies including valve assessment, and comprehensive reporting.It is usefu for anaesthesiologists, and doctors in cardiology,surgery,emergency medicine and ICUs.
Pretest and post tests in connection with this workshop were also conducted .Feedback forms were obtained from all the delegates.The same will be reviewed by the Faculty from the Melbourne before issuing the training certificates.
Asia’s biggest mega event in Anaesthesiology – the 61st National Conference of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Organized by ISA Guwahati City Branch and hosted by ISA Assam State Branch, in the land of Sun rise, the capital city of Assam, Guwahati at Gauhati Medical College, from 26th to 29th December 2013. A galaxy of international and national faculties shared their knowledge and expertise in the field of Anaesthesiology, Critical care, Pain & Trauma management, to the participating delegates.
