ACLS & BLS Training Program of NABH

The CPR committee in association with Quality Cell conducted training program for Faculty, Post graduates and Staff nurses. A total of 245 members attended the programme. Dr.Sahajananda.H , NABH Coordinator welcomed all the delegates and participants. Dr. Sathyamurthy. B, Dean, Dr.Praveen Kumar , Medical superintendent stressed the importance of skills training for all the health care workers. Dr.Ambareesha.M ,Prof & HOD Emergency Medicine , AHA Provider , Explained about the latest AHA Guidelines on BLS & ACLS followed by Mega code. An overview of the steps, equipment used for early patient resuscitation and use of AED as per recent AHA guidelines was given. Delegates were divided into 10 batches & Hands on training was conducted by Dr. Shabbir Shekhli, ACLS instructor and Dr. Anagha and Dr. Soumya Subhra Datta using manikin for simulation of real life cardiac arrest conditions and its correct management according to AHA guidelines. The programme was conducted from 10AM to 1Pm and 2PM to 5 PM. Delegates were also given pre and post training questionnaire. The training fulfilled the objective of the workshop.   View Event Report

PALS Training Program of NABH

The Dept.of Emergency Medicine in association with Quality Cell conducted training program for Faculty, Post graduates and Staff nurses. A total of 62 members attended the programme. Dr.Sahajananda.H , NABH Coordinator welcomed the gathering. Dr. Ambareesha M ,Prof & HOD Emergency Medicine , AHA Provider , Explained about the Latest AHA Guidelines on PALS followed by Mega code. An overview of the steps, equipment used for early patient resuscitation and use of AED as per recent AHA guidelines was discussed. Hands on training was conducted by Dr. Shabbir shekhli, ACLS instructor and Dr. Soumya Subhra Datta, Asst. Prof using manikin for Hands on Training according to AHA guidelines.

Health Awareness Programme Role Play by I MBBS students

Event: Health Awareness Programme Role Play by I MBBS students, conveyed by Department of Biochemistry on Date: 24-02-2024 The Department of Biochemistry conducted a health awareness program for the general public in the Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital lobby on 24th February 2024. The program was graced by our Beloved Dean Dr. Sathyamurthy B sir and our enterprising Medical Superintendent Dr Praveen Kumar.The health awareness programme comprised of role play by I MBBS 2023-24 Batch students on Obesity, Myocardial Infarction and Anemia. The inception seed were laid by our HOD Dr Bindu C.M. Teachers were identified to lead the three batches of students. They in turn nurtured students in their batches to come up with ideas for the role play. The students were asked to divide themselves into groups that performed the role play and prepared the required collages and the posters. The students were trained by the teachers. We had rehearsals every week in their respective practical class timing. All the staff participated in rehearsals and gave inputs on required changes. Dr. Daniel Furst visit to RRMCH

Event: Dr. Daniel Furst visit to RRMCH Date: 29/02/2024 The Dept. of Research and sustenance committee in association with Quality Cell conducted a CME on Rheumatoid Arthritis (R.A) for Faculty and Post graduates. The guest speaker was Dr.Daniel Furst, MD, MACR, USA. He is the Professor of Medicine at University of California at the division of Rheumatology. He is also Adjunct professor at the University of Washington. He is also research professor at university of Florence, Italy. He is internationally known for his work in scleroderma and R.A. He Has 900+ peer reviewed articles and edited 20 books on R.A. He Has 1500 to 2000 patients and cares for 300 to 500 patients globally; with systemic diffuse scleroderma, his research interest includes R.A, scleroderma, and polymyositis, he has been honored with outstanding DOCTOR by the Scleroderma foundation . He conducted a training programme for doctors on “Examination of R.A. patients”. Dr. Sahjannanda, Chairperson of the Research Committee welcomed Dr.Daniel Furst, Dr. Sathyamurthy.B – Dean, Dr.Praveen Kumar – Medical superintendent. Dr.Daniel Furst delivered a Lecture on R.A. and presented the multi center research programme which is going on. Our college is one of the participating centers. Poster presentation at the National Pediatric Emergency Medicine Conference

Its happy to share with all that our Postgraduates, Department of Pediatrics under the guidance of Dr.Adarsh E. (HOD and Professor, Department of Pediatrics), were selected for Poster presentation at the National Pediatric Emergency Medicine Conference (NAPEM) 2024 held by Aster CV Hospitals at Yelahanka on 2nd and 3rd March 2024. Following Posters were presented by the Final Year postgraduates:
  • Dr. Kiruthikkashri Jois – An array of empyema cases presenting to the pediatric intensive care unit at a tertiary care center
  • Dr. Yusuf Aslam – A Rare case presentation of amoebic liver abscess and Kawasaki disease in a 6 year old child A rare case of Mycoplasma pneumonia induced pneumonia with pleural effusion with empyema in a 3 year old child
  • Dr. Trisandhya – A case of Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis secondary to mumps.

Final year postgraduates were selected for Award Paper Presentation

Its happy to share with all that our our postgraduates in the Department of Pediatrics under the guidance of Dr. Adarsh E (HOD and Professor, Department of Pediatrics), were selected for Award Paper Presentation at the IAP Mangalore PEDICON and National Neonatology Conference at KS Hegde Institute and hospitals in Mangalore, on 9th and 10th of March, 2024. 3 of our final year postgraduates were selected for Award Paper Presentation Category under the following headings.
  • Dr. Kiruthikkashri Jois (1st prize award paper)– Diagnostic utility of diaphragmatic ultrasound to predict surfactant replacement therapy in neonates below 34 weeks of gestation- a prospective observational study.
  • Dr. Ajith Krishna
  • Dr. Yusuf Aslam – Effect of maternal voice on proportion of feeding in preterm infants (Improved neonatal outcome with live or recorded maternal voice: A hospital based randomized controlled trial)

Poster Presentation & Child Health Conference

We are proud to share with all that Dr Kiruthikka Shri Jois, PG, Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology has participated in the Original research work conducted at the tertiary centre at the prestigious Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health Conference 2024 (RCPCH 2024), held at Birmingham, United Kingdom. It was her esteemed opportunity of being invited to present an original research work. Final year Resident, Dr. Kiruthikka shri Jois, under the guidance of Dr. Adarsh (HOD & Professor), Dr. Sahana G. (Professor Neonatology) and Dr. Venkatesh Murthy (Associate Professor Neonatology) was selected amidst a global cohort to present physical short poster presentation titled – “The utility of sonographic assessment of lung and diaphragmatic dimensions as a novel predictive tool for surfactant replacement therapy in preterm neonates with RDS”. The conference took place from 25th to 27th of March 2024, during which our work by the Department of Paediatrics at Rajarajeswari Medical College was greatly appreciated and reviewed by many acclaimed peers in the field of Paediatrics on a global platform.   View Event Report  

Health Awareness Program and Multispeciality Camp for International Woman’s Day

Date: 27th March 2024 Time: 10:30 am – 1:30 pm Venue: K.R.Halli RHTC. On the occasion of International Woman’s day 2024 a Multispeciality camp and Health Awareness Program was conducted by Department of Community Medicine on 27 th March at 10:30 am in K.R.Halli RHTC.
The program was organised and presided by Dr.Shashikala Manjunatha (Professor and HOD, Dept. of Community Medicine), Dr.Usha S (Professor), Dr.K.S.S.Vidusha (Associate Professor), Dr.Aishwarya S (Associate Professor). In concurrence with theme of international Woman’s day the final year DHI students from paramedical actively participated and educated the audience about the importance of Woman’s health using posters. A multi specialty camp was held with lab investigations for Heamoglobin, Blood Sugar and Blood Grouping test.
The camp involved the departments of General Medicine, ENT, OBG, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics and Dermatology with their respective residents, faculty and staff nurses. Post graduate students of Community medicine department and staff of RHTC actively participated and co-ordinated the program. Free medicines and bowls were distributed to 43 beneficiaries who attended the program. Refreshments and transport facilities were arranged by RRMCH.

Second Parent – Teachers Meet of I MBBS, 2023-24 Batch

Date: 29/04/2024 Time: 11:00am to 1:00pm Venue: Kadamba Hall, RRMCH The II Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) for the 2023-24 batch of 1st MBBS students was conducted on Monday, April 29th, 2024, at Kadamba Hall, RRMCH. The meeting commenced at 9:30 am and concluded at 3:00 pm. Dr. Bharathi D, Professor, Department of Anatomy and Chairperson of the PTM committee, warmly welcomed all attendees. During the occasion, parents engaged in one-on-one sessions with the Head of Departments which included Dr. Shruthi B N (Anatomy), Dr. Jamuna B L (Physiology), and Dr. Bindu C M (Biochemistry), along with their respective mentors. These discussions encompassed various aspects such as academic performance in II Internal assessments, behavior,attendance, and suggestions for student improvement. To ensure comprehensive support, the Estate Officer and wardens from both boys’ and girls’ hostels were also present to address any concerns raised by the parents. A total of 48 parents participated in the PTM, and feedback forms were collected from all attendees upon its conclusion.
